Inflammation In Our Bodies

Inflammation in our bodies occurs because our white blood cells are moving to safeguard a specific region from bacteria, virus, or from a foreign substance that could result in infection. Sometimes, however, this action can cause tissue damage. In other instance a person's immune system triggers it when there's nothing to fight off, also damaging normal tissue. No matter the specifics, its important to locate this problem as soon as possible as it can (and often does) grow steadily worse until treated.

Associated Diseases:

There are several types of conditions that we associate with inflammation. These include arthritis, tendinitis, bursitis, and fibromyalgia. It can of course be caused by an infection from cuts or burns. Generally speaking, it manifests with pain, stiffness, redness, swelling, and sometimes flu-like conditions. An on-going or chronic condition should be diagnosed by a medical professional so that it can be properly treated.

Depending on the cause of inflammation there are a variety of treatments. For example, if it is caused by infection it can often be reversed by cleaning the affected site thoroughly and monitoring it to be sure the infection goes away. Chronic problems like arthritis is a little different. This type often requires a modified lifestyle, pain killers, and anti-inflammatory medication.

Causes:

Besides those already discussed there are other things that can lead to symptoms. A person with poor nutrition consisting of saturated fats, highly processed foods, and lots of sugar is at far higher risk of developing it as is someone who doesn't exercise regularly. People under stress or with undiscovered allergies also experience this as can exposure to certain toxins.

Protecting yourself from Diseases:

There are things that you can do in your daily life that will help protect your body from inflammatory conditions. These include:

  • - Eating whole foods (stay away from fast food and highly processed foods)

  • - Eliminate stress: find a way to relax every day.

  • - Exercise on a regular basis. This supports your overall immune system (and also decreases stress

  • - Avoid saturated fat while adding healthy fat into your diet (nuts, olive oil, avocados)

  • - Find a good organic dietary supplement. Many people do not eat right, and a daily supplement can provide some of those essentials your diet may be missing.

Last but not least being consuming foods that have high anti-oxidant qualities. Antioxidants act like a tonic on your system, decreasing your risk for cancer and heart disease, boosting your immunity and fighting off inflammation. 5-7 helpings of fruits and vegetables daily do the trick. Or, look to an anti-oxidant vitamin blend (A, C, D, and E).
